My love runs deep. (+ a giveaway!)

One of my favorite days of the year is quickly approaching on Friday, August 2nd. It’s not my birthday, anniversary or any holiday. It’s the first day of the Indiana State Fair.

Can you feel my excitement?!?!

Do I need to remind you about how much I LOVE THE STATE FAIR?!

We already have four trips to the fair planned for this year. I have already submitted my available days to my elephant ear employer/friend. Every time we drive by the fairgrounds my kids ask me when we get to go for the first time. I have them totally brainwashed to love the fair as much as I do. It’s the only thing that keeps me going through the last few weeks of summer vacation.

Y’all, my love runs deep for the Indiana State Fair. Almost as deep as my love for this little guy. (He gets to go for the FIRST TIME this year! He’s gonna love it!!!)Isaac

And my dear friends over at Indiana’s Family of Farmers (IFOF) have a ton of activities going on at the fair this year that you should check out, including:

  • Recipe Trail : For each person who finishes the trail, IFOF partners with Feeding Indiana’s Hungry to donate

one pound of food to food banks across the state. Recipe trail travelers donated more than 3,000

pounds of food last year. This year’s goal is 3,500 pounds, so 3,500 people need to go through the

recipe trail to attain the goal. More information about the 2013 recipe trail is on the IFOF’s website.

  • World’s Largest Popcorn Ball : IFOF is the sponsor the World’s Largest Popcorn Ball, a 5,000-pound, 9-foot popcorn delicacy featured at the Ball State Ag/Horticulture Building. This will also be a stop on the 2013 IFOF recipe trail. After the fair, the popcorn will be fed to Indiana livestock. (I can’t tell you how excited I am to see this! It might be the one food I couldn’t live without.)
  • IFOF booth in DuPont Food Pavilion : For the second year in a row, the DuPont Food Pavilion will be a part of this year’s state fair. Along with hourly food demos on the Red Gold Kitchen the pavilion will also feature a retail store with more than 30 Indiana made specialty items available for purchase. IFOF is proud to be part of the food pavilion all 17 days. Along with the recipe trail, different agricultural groups will be featured and providing samples at the IFOF booth.
  • Partnership with Habitat for Humanity The Habitat home built on the state fairgrounds will be a stop on this year’s recipe trail. As part of the partnership, Indiana’s Family of Farmers will donate a freezer and meat donations to fill the freezer to the new homeowner. Thanks to the farmers around the state who grow our food and who generously gave back.

I CAN NOT wait for all of the popcorn. I am just sad that we don’t get to try a bite of the worlds biggest popcorn ball. It would be cool if it was a cheddar cheese popcorn ball…

  2. Chrisgharmon

Love the fair! Can’t wait for all the food yummies & a Dole Whip! Let me know when you’re working the elephant ear booth & if I’m there one of those times, then I for sure will stop by!!

I love the State Fair. I remember one year they had a group that did a marvelous performance from the side of the 4H building. Actually ON the side — they were hanging from ropes! Lights, music — it was wonderful!

Family fun at the State Fair…can’t wait! I get to eat my way through the grounds while the 5-year old climbs on and sits in every single tractor and farm vehicle on display. A win, win. Thank goodness for the ‘people mover’ when I’ve indulged in one too many elephant ears.

We have never been to the Indiana State Fair but would love to go. The giant popcorn ball sounds neat! We have a 3 yo and I heard they have a new kiddie area full of rides just for him. I think he would love that!

We absolutely LOVE the State Fair! We have taken my kids every year. My son is an avid John Deere tractor fan, so we spend a lot of time in the tractor section. Plus, the animals are another must. Can’t wait! We homeschool, so we refuse to start school until after the Fair! 🙂

We go simply for the horses and goats! We need a farm…

We love the Fair and try to go every year! Looking forward to going several times this year with the discounted admission days. But, it would be even more fun to win free tickets!! 🙂
We love to eat Fair food and watch the horse competitions the best.

I’m so excited to meet someone who loves the State Fair as much as I do! My friends think it’s crazy that last year I went on 10 out of the 17 days!! Probably only 6 this year, but I can’t wait to get there and get the fun started! Thanks for the chance to win free tickets! Maybe I’ll see you there. 🙂
